How to add a contributor to your website

Whenever having a website for your own business gets too confusing or taking too much time, there’s a chance I can help you out tweak that page you’re working on, embed that timetable widget that’s bugging you or add a missing functionality to your website.

To allow me to help you out with your website, you will need to add me as a contributor to your Squarespace or Wix website.

We’ll have a chat before hand anyway but this one always comes up as the final question once we’ve agreed to work together so I’ve created this quick step by step guide to help you out.

Step by step guide for your Squarespace website

  • From the Home page, select the ‘Settings’ option from the left hand menu

  • Click on ‘Permissions’ from the left hand menu

  • On this page, click ‘Invite Contributor’.

  • In the pop up window, add the name, email address and access you want to give that person.

Step by step guide for your Wix website

  • In the top banner on your Home page, under your site’s thumbnail (small image of your home page), click on the link ‘Invite people‘

  • On the next page, just add the email of the person you want to add to your website’s backend

    • You’ll need to select the role you want to assign this person. This will depend on what the person needs to do on the website.

Tip:

If you’re adding a website designer to help you redesign your website, I recommend using the highest option to make sure they don’t get stuck because of admin rights in the middle of the project.

  • On SquareSpace, it’s called ‘Administrator‘

  • On Wix, it’s called ‘Admin (Co-Owner)’

Hit me up if you need some help updating that website of yours!
I offer ad-hoc assistance if you already have a Wix or Squarespace website. Find out more on my Services page.
